What do you do? 'I work with our Features Writer Ellie to bring you all the latest consumer news as well as covering the food and travel sections.'

What do you love about Ideal Home? 'In no particular order... the variety of subjects I cover day to day, getting feedback from readers, my colleagues who have made me feel very welcome as the latest newbie (ahh!) and of course our shiny new offices!'

Favourite shop? 'John Lewis – in particular the Haberdashery Department. I have been known to spend many hours choosing and buying fabrics, buttons, threads, ribbons... just don't look under the bed in my spare room! I also have a thing for cookware and bakeware so any kitchen shop is always an instant hit.

Best decorating tip 'Preparation, preparation, preparation, and don't be stingy with the filler.'

Worst decorating mistake? 'Nothing too major (yet) but I'm in the process of buying a 'project' so I'm sure I'll have plenty of stories in a few months time.'

Most surprising thing? I once went to a friends house for lunch and ended up helping to deliver her baby – a day I will never forget!
